BESPOKE JEWELLERY

Making custom made jewellery was where I started.  If you have a piece of jewellery you don’t like or is out of fashion, we can redesign into a piece you will wear with pride.

Similarly, if you have a picture of a piece of jewellery, we can replicate it for you and even adjust the design if you want it unique to you.

If you just can’t find what you’re looking for, let us do the work for you and we can locate the stones and custom make whatever you want, having already supplied many individual items to many delighted customers.

We always like to work on the principle “If we don’t have it we will know someone who has” and will be able to supply whatever you require.

EMERALD CUT SINGLE STONE

This was one of the first bespoke pieces we made when we started Shersby Jewellers.  We made this ring for a friend of ours, after her coming into our shop one afternoon and saying her husband had said, “Go and find whatever ring you like”.

When she came in and described what she wanted, and to be honest I knew exactly what she was after,  she took a ring from her handbag, passed it across the table and said “That’s what I want, a ring just like that”.

The ring was a child’s toy ring from a Christmas Cracker.  The request was for the same shape and size as the toy ring which was a 3 carat Emerald Cut Diamond and to be made in platinum.

We sourced the stone from a suppler in Antwerp, we showed her the stone two days later, and she agreed that was what she wanted.  She then asked if she could have it for a party on Saturday, so I rolled my sleeves up, went to the workshop and started the ring immediately.

As we can be completely in control of the manufacturing process we can, if possible, achieve all our customer’s requirements.

She did wear the ring to that party on the following Saturday.

TRILLION SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND CROSS OVER RING

This is a ring I made for a customer back in 1999 before I had the shop and was working in manufacturing.

The people I made the ring for were friends as well as customers, when he asked his wife what she would like for her birthday, she said “I would like a ring designed by Richard”.

So one evening I went to their house with a pile of jewellery catalogues under my arm. We sat at the kitchen table flicking through the catalogues just chatting about what sort of ring she would like, i.e. what’s your favourite colour, shapes and metals. After a long chat and going through all the catalogues, I pencilled on a back of an envelope the design of this ring, I got the two Trillion Sapphires to show my customers and told them how much it would cost, then all I had to do was make the ring.

We have made hundreds of bespoke items for many customers, but these are a few that stay in the forefront of my memory.

If you have any special ideas, please contact us and we will turn them into a reality for you.

COMET RING

This was a ring we made about the same time as the Emerald Cut Ring; a lady came into the shop, told us that she absolutely loved Stars & Comets, and wanted a ring made from platinum using both those themes.

I must be honest I did scratch my head at that request, but after a few hours with a pencil and piece of paper, this is the ring that we sketched out.

The five-pointed star had a .02-carat Brilliant Cut diamond at the end of each point and the centre stone was a .50-carat Brilliant Cut, with graduated Brilliants set on the band. This ring I must say myself I found absolutely stunning and to this day still one of my favourite bespoke pieces.

The customer brought the ring back six months later and asked to have diamonds set all the way round the whole band, making it a full eternity ring.

YELLOW GOLD DIAMOND HALF ETERNITY RING

This is quite an interesting story we have a customer who was going through a inherited box of Costume Jewellery. They just wondered if one of the rings in the collection was real. They brought the ring into our shop for me to have a look, it was slightly damaged and was not really a wearable item to their pleasant surprise it was real. As the ring was a family heirloom, I was asked if we could use the diamonds from the inherited ring into something new. We had a ring in the window that my customer loved, but was a lot smaller. So all we did was make this ring using the customer’s stones, so all they had to pay for was the labour and materials. We supplied a valuation stating the new replacement value, so the finished article can be insured for the correct value. Why leave a damaged item in a box when you have all the goods available to turn into something new and beautiful.

PLATINUM DIAMOND THREE STONE RING

This ring is also a larger version of a stock item we had, and I made it for a couples Silver Wedding. My customer always coveted a ring that I had in the window and asked me if I could make a larger version? No problem, my customer had a diamond single stone pendant that was bought by her husband a couple of years previously, so we used that diamond as the centre stone, and the two side tapered baguettes to represent her husband in the centre and her two sons each side thus symbolic of the three men in her life.
